Important Notice: Once you share data with a third-party app, that app's own privacy practices apply. This may include sensitive data such as medical diagnoses, procedures, and medications. If you enable an app to access any of your data, it will have access to all of your data.

What is the Patient Access API?
It is a secure way to access and share your health information using apps that you choose. It is completely optional.

Yes. eternalHealth uses strong security protections to keep your data safe, and you are always in control of what gets shared.

Do I have to use it?
No. Using the Patient Access API is completely optional. There is no requirement to connect any apps.

What apps can I use?
You can use apps that support the Patient Access API, such as Apple Health, Epic MyChart, Google Health, Microsoft Health, and SMART. Always review an app's privacy policy before connecting it to your health information.

Can I stop sharing my data at any time?
Yes. You can disconnect access at any time through the app. Completing the eternalHealth Opt-Out Form will prevent any new access requests.

Will this cost me anything?
eternalHealth does not charge for API access. Some third-party apps may have their own fees — always check with the app provider before signing up.

What health information is shared?
Claims, medications, provider information, and coverage details may be available through connected apps.

Can app developers request access to eternalHealth's API?
Yes, but access must be authorized by an eternalHealth member. Member-directed requests can be submitted to [email protected]. The eternalHealth Provider Directory and Formulary information are publicly available on our website.

Covered Entities & Enforcement
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Office for Civil Rights (OCR) enforces the HIPAA Privacy, Security, and Breach Notification Rules. eternalHealth follows all HIPAA requirements, as do most health care providers such as hospitals, doctors, and dentists.

App Privacy Enforcement
Most third-party apps are not covered by HIPAA. Instead, they fall under the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). Always ask each app provider for their "Notice of Privacy Practices."
